Attendance Management System - Incentivising attendance to reduce dropout rates in school and colleges

Schools and colleges across England were facing the problem of increased dropout rates. The talent pool of young graduates in the country was threatened. The DfES, under the leadership of Prime Minister Tony Blair came up with a proposal to incentivise students between the ages of 16 and 19 to stay on a learning-track.   The clients' mission is to energise young people to have a greater belief in themselves, raise their aspirations and actively participate in their own learning and personal development.   The programme is managed by one of the UK's leading professional and support services organisations with Mastek as the delivery partner. Each student is issued a smart card that rewards attendance at school through a points-based system.   Mastek was involved in the development of a web application called connexionscard.com that is used for administrative purposes as well as by students to claim rewards.   Today, the application managed by Mastek has more than 700,000 registered students who claim over 15,000 rewards each month.
