Mastek has an integrated Learning and Development cell focused on all aspects of learning and development for our employees.

We have all learning and training efforts under one umbrella and an integrated online training calendar and registration system. Process, behavioural and technical trainings and development interventions are offered for a host of learning needs.

World-class Induction Program

The L&D cell has a very detailed and effective corporate induction program of about two to five days (based on the experience level of recruited employees). For our Campus recruits we also have a world class outbound induction program (Pravesh) that supports the transition of new comers to Mastek’s culture.

Bite Sized Courses

To increase learning avenues, we have also introduced an innovative intervention called the Bite Sized Courses. Since employees find it tough to take out time for their learning needs, we introduced the concept of short duration courses in the form of Appetizers and Deep Dives. They are designed as a small session and help employees to build awareness and pick up skills.

E-learning Initiative

We have recently launched our e-learning initiative (eDGe - Employee Development and Growth through e-learning) that enables Mastekeers to access and undergo a wide variety of self paced online training programs and certifications.

Training on the Latest Technology

We have been focusing on gearing up Mastekeers with the latest technology trends in areas like JEE; Microsoft & Oracle to ensure the rights skill sets are in place to meet future requirements.  Domains like EAI/B2B, portal technologies like SharePoint along with designs and performance aspects have also been looked at. We also delivered sessions on best practices and effective tool usage with the objective of increasing developer productivity.

To address the growing needs of application security, we are aiming to ensure via security workshops that all project teams are security-aware and the applications we build are secure by design, development and deployment. 

Learning Portal

At Mastek we introduced an exclusive learning portal called Edify" for the additional learning material  and also a specialised training  design, titled "Bridge to Project" to have an efficient resource pool for future requirements.

Soft Skills Development

On the soft skills front, we emphasised on strengthening managerial and leadership development programs.  Towards this end we offered "One skill a month" programs to enable managers to adapt to skills like delegation, coaching, giving and receiving feedback. Besides this to enhance workplace productivity of Mastekeers, we offered various sessions like email etiquette, note taking and problem solving. A special program, titled "Rising In Adversity" was offered to enable Mastekeers to cope with turbulent times.

Average number of training days per employee in FY 09 was 7.8 days per employee.
